First I-Play area opens at Fairview Park

NEW LOOK: The new facilities that were recently launched at Fairview Park.

FAIRVIEW Park has become the first I-Play area in the city.

I-Play is an active play and fitness area designed to attract those more used to playing computer games.

Users receive scores that they can log online and compare with other players in the UK and Ireland.

The facility is part of the new-look Fairview Park, which was officially launched last Friday week (August 31) by Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Naoise Muirí

The 20-acre park now features a range of improvements on a 4.7-acre site along the northern boundary of the park.

These include a children’s playground that will keep even the most demanding child entertained for hours, Dublin city’s fourth skateboard park, a woodland walkway and a public performance area.

Lord Mayor Muirí said these new facilities will improve the park for children, young people and adults in Fairview, East Wall, Marino and the north inner city.

“They also demonstrate Dublin City Council’s commitment to children’s play and to enhancing the city’s existing parks and open spaces,

? he stated.

Dublin City Parks Superintendent Leslie Moore said:

“The improved Fairview Park combines active features such as the I-Play area with passive features such as seasonal bedding.

“These improvements will allow the park to play an even more important role in the life and activity of the Fairview area.

Dublin North Central TD Finian McGrath (Ind) commended the Parks Department and Cllr Damian O’Farrell (Ind) for their great work on the project.

Deputy McGrath urged all local residents to protect their playground against anti-social behaviour.

“We cannot allow this great resource to be damaged or destroyed,

? he said.
