THE sky’s the limit for this year’s Phizzfest festival, which was launched last week over the Dublin skyline.

The arts festival, which is an annual celebration of artistic life and the rich cultural diversity of Phibsboro was launched on the Etihad Skyline over Croke Park stadium last Thursday (July 26).

Phizzfest, which is run entirely by volunteers, aims to strengthen Phibsboro’s sense of community by showcasing local talent from the area.

The annual event, which runs from September 1-9 this year, has a programme loaded with attractions to suit all tastes including an evening with John Giles in conversation with broadcaster Cathal Mac Coille and a performance from comic Maeve Higgins of TV’s Naked Camera.

There will also be a production of

‘The Wheelchair on My Face’ organised by Fishamble theatre company.

Also during the nine-day festival poet and author Dermot Bolger will give a talk with photographer John Minihan and the Dublin Guitar Quartet will play an intimate church performance while Dublin group 3epkano will gig from a rooftop.
