MEET perfect pupil Ben Brady who has never missed a day of school in eight years.

The 12-year-old, who graduated from Belgrove Senior School in Clontarf last week, proved he’s a class act by achieving the remarkable feat of a perfect attendance.

From junior school to senior school, Ben has never missed a day, a feat he hopes to repeat in his secondary level schooling.

So what’s his secret?

“I guess I just get on with it,

? he told Northside People.

“There may have been some days when I had a cough or something but it was nothing major.

“It seemed that anytime I was sick I was on holidays from school.

He added:

“I’m going to try to do the same in secondary school.

Proud mum Caroline Brady explained how

‘pulling a sickie’ would never even have entered her son’s mind.

“I don’t think he ever said

‘oh, I don’t feel like going to school today’ and to be honest, it wouldn’t really have been up for discussion,

? she said.

“My husband and I are hard workers so we don’t really give up that easily.

“Also, attendance is very important to me as I remember how I missed out on things when I was absent a few days here and there when I was a pupil.

Ms Brady said she was always very mindful of keeping her son in tip-top shape.

“He never had a flu,

? she said.

“If ever I heard from some of the other parents that their kids were sick I would make sure that Ben got some extra rest and multivitamins so that he was as strong as possible.

“I’m a stay-at-home mum as well so sometimes I would be able to nip down to the school to give him Calpol if necessary.

Frank Brady, the principal of Belgrove Senior School, said that in his 36 years of working as a teacher and principal Ben Brady is the first pupil he’s known not to have missed a single day of school.
