FIVE puppies are back on their paws after they were dumped in a skip in Finglas recently.
A lady found the litter of pups shivering and crying at the bottom of the skip as she was putting rubbish into the container.
The mixed-breed pups, which were believed to have been three weeks old when they were dumped, were taken to Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Finglas where they have been building up strength and getting back on their paws.
As they have been separated from their mother the puppies are being hand fed every few hours around the clock.
Staff at the Dogs Trust have named the litter after waste companies – Ozo, Thornton, Panda, Mulleady and Wallis.
They will be vaccinated in the coming weeks and are then in the market for new homes where they will be loved and cared for.
Kathrina Bentley, Head of Marketing, said she and the team at the rehoming centre were shocked to learn that the pups had been dumped in the skip.
“As they are so young, they’ll need someone at home as much as possible because they’ll need to be toilet trained and things like that,
? she stated.
“So ideally it would be someone who can give them the hours and attention but anyone with a family and young kids would be lovely as well.
?
She added:
“I cannot emphasise enough the importance of neutering in order to reduce the amount of unwanted litters.
“I would also encourage anyone thinking of getting a dog or puppy to go to their local rescue centre and rehome a rescued dog.
?
Dogs Trust has rehomed more than 2,500 dogs and pups since opening of the centre in November 2009.
