CELEBRATIONS will kick off this month to mark the 150th anniversary of Dublin Fire Brigade.

In honor of these brave men and women there will be a host of exciting commemorative events happening throughout the coming months.

Some of the highlights include a reception with the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Dublin Fire Brigade Colour Party and Visiting Pipe Bands parade through the city centre and an An Post official commemorative stamp.

The year of celebrations will culminate with a TV series called

‘Fire Fighters’.

The series goes behind the scenes with the men and women of Dublin Fire Brigade as they support the community and embark on life saving missions, daring rescues and non-stop action responses.

The action series, which is available for sponsorship, was created by Moondance Productions and will be broadcast on RTÃ? One in the autumn.

Stephen Brady, chief fire officer, said Dublin Fire Brigade has a long and proud tradition of serving the citizens of Dublin city and county since its early beginnings in 1862.

“The Brigade has experienced many changes throughout its history from the early steam fire engines and horse drawn ambulances to the current modern Fire, Rescue and Emergency Ambulance Service,

? stated Mr Brady.

“Our 150th anniversary gives us the opportunity to celebrate all aspects of our service both past and present and I am proud to be chief fire officer during this momentous year.

Shane Brennan of Moondance Productions said they are delighted and privileged to have such exclusive access to Dublin Fire and Rescue.

“All the fire stations and crew have been a pleasure to work alongside and have given us their much appreciated support when we are filming them day and night 24/7,

? stated Mr Brennan.

“Fire Fighters is going to be an amazing action packed series, never seen before on Irish television.

“I think the general public are going to be pleasantly surprised to see the varied work that the Dublin Fire Brigade get called out to do. I’m sure the TV series will be a huge hit with the viewers.

Dublin Fire Brigade is one of the few fire services in the world whose members are all trained paramedics. It receives over 133,000 fire, emergency ambulance and rescue calls annually.
