New appeal on Tallaght murder

CRIMESTOPPERS has renewed an appeal for information on
the murder of Tallaght man, Michael Gallagher, at his home on Tymonville Road
on January 18, 2007.

At approximately 10.06pm that Thursday, Mr Gallagher
and his partner were at home when there was a knock on the front door. When Mr
Gallagher’s partner answered the door two males entered the house and went to
the kitchen area where they attacked Michael Gallagher.

As a result of the assault he suffered a number of
fatal knife wounds to the body. The assailants then left the house and fled the
scene on foot. His partner was also assaulted.

Detective Inspector John Walsh from Tallaght Garda
Station said they were anxious to speak to anyone who may have been aware of
suspicious activity in the area on the evening of January 18, 2007.

“Information which you think may not be relevant may
turn out to be critical in helping us identify who is responsible for the
vicious murder of Michael Gallagher,

? he said.

Gardaí are particularly interested in any information
from the public on two males who were seen on the roadway near Michael
Gallagher’s home at around 10pm on the evening of the murder.
