A CALL has gone out to find the little innocents
pictured here making their first communion in the old
‘wooden church’ in
Ballygall.
They were all pupils of the Sacred Heart National
School, formerly the Glasnevin Model School, 52 years ago and the picture shows
them on their best behaviour.
Some of the boys, many now grandparents, got together
recently and the idea of a class reunion was born. The former pupils have so
far managed to track down an impressive 36 of their classmates and are now
hoping to get in touch with more.
“The photograph shows 46 boys and we have identified a
total of 66 associated with the class from junior infants to sixth class,
? said
former old boy, Matt Robinson.
“All avenues have been explored in our efforts to
locate the remainder. This included everything from knocking on hall doors, to
the use of modern social network internet sites, but alas, to no avail.
“We are mindful of the Northside People’s widespread
circulation and hope that by publishing the photograph we can find some more of
the missing pupils.
“Hopefully the other
‘boys’ will be recognised, if not
by themselves, then hopefully by other family members.

The school’s catchment area at the time included
Glasnevin, Drumcondra,
‘old’ Ballymun, Wadelai, Tolka Estate, and Finglas East.

would now be in their late fifties, contact 086-2272724 or email oldsayko@gmail.com.
