PUPILS at a north county Dublin school received a new
year’s boost when they received two awards for their innovative use of the
internet.
Balbriggan Educate Together National School won the
Best School Blog and Grand Prix Awards in the Mega Spiders category of the
eircom Junior Spider Awards.
Fintan McCutcheon, principal of Balbriggan Educate
Together National School, said he was delighted that Dan’s 5th class blog won
two eircom Junior Spider Awards.
“The students and teacher Dan McGee have put in a huge
effort and it is very exciting to bring back the award for Best School Blog and
to be awarded the Grand Prix prize in the Mega Spiders category,
? he said.
“We are all very proud of them and their
achievements.

Carolan Lennon, chief commercial officer, eircom and
chairperson of the judging panel, congratulated everyone who won an award.
“It is fantastic to see such a high standard of
creative thinking and innovation among the students,
? said Ms Lennon.
“The eircom Junior Spider Awards are a great
opportunity to showcase how the internet has such a pivotal role in the
everyday lives of the students.
“It is very encouraging to see such a diverse
range of entries across the award categories, from a variety of blogs on
student life, to websites on how to build an F1 car, tips on how to revise and
web and graphic design advice.
