OVER
200 brave walkers and runners battled through torrential rain, winds of up to
70km and hail to complete a circumference of the Howth peninsula recently.
It
was all part of the annual Taking Action on Cancer 12km Howth Family Walk/Fun
Run that was organised by the Deer Park Hotel and healthpro Nutrition and
Exercise Specialists.
The
event aims to not only raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society,
but to also highlight and educate people about the small steps they can
undertake with their lifestyle and diet to help reduce the risk of cancer.
Passionate
Healthpro
Director, Harriette Lynch, is passionate about encouraging everyone to become
fitter and healthier through exercise and nutrition.
“Taking
Action on Cancer is a community based charity event that encourages people to
get out and exercise and spread the word about how small changes in your
lifestyle can make a big difference to your health and wellbeing,
? she
explained.
Antoinette
Tighe of Deer Park Hotel said they were delighted to welcome so many
inspirational speakers who shared their experiences as part of the day.
Habit
“We
had Fiona, a cancer survivor who is involved in the cancer activity programme,
Elaine Gillespie who works with ICS, Jane and Keira from Corporate reputations
who highlighted the new EU
‘ex smokers are unstoppable campaign’ and its phone
app to help people kick their smoking habit,
? she said.
As
numbers were down this year due to the extreme conditions, Antoinette said she
really hoped that people would give a donation on behalf of all those that did
brave the elements.

Donations

Cancer Society buckets or directly to the Irish Cancer Society bank account at
