?¬15.6
million Sandyford High Level Water Supply Scheme has been launched.

The Minister for
the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, cut the red
tape on the new facility that will ensure a dependable supply of pure, fresh
drinking water to parts of the Southside.

“I am delighted
to be here in Sandyford,

? the minister declared.

“This gives me an opportunity
to see, at first hand, the positive results of the investment being made in
local communities with funding from my department’s Water Services Investment
Programme. á

“This scheme has
cost

?¬15.á million to build and fit-out and it was money well spent to ensure
an adequate supply of pure, fresh drinking water. By any standards, this is an impressive
scheme. It will greatly improve the
quality and reliability of the water supply to the areas of Sandyford, Ballyogan,
Stepaside and Kilternan.

He added:

“I
would like to take the opportunity to congratulate all who were involved in
providing this scheme – the chairman and elected members of the council, the
County Manager and his administrative and technical staff, together with the
consultants and the contractors who worked on the scheme.
