FORMER President
of Ireland Mary Robinson visited the Northside recently to help a lone parents
resource centre celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Noreen Byrne,
director of Doras BuÃ, said,
“We have provided support to lone parent families
from the Coolock area for 25 years.
“We have gone
from a one-room building helping only a few parents to now providing crèche
support to over 89 children.
“It has been a
fantastic few weeks for our centre, between the refurbishment by ARAMARK
Ireland and then our Patron Mary Robinson’s visit to mark our 25-year
celebrations.
?
Dublin North
East TD Tommy Broughan (Lab) congratulated Doras Buà on reaching the milestone.
“Doras Bui
chairperson Kathleen Norris and manager Noreen Byrne are to be deeply commended
for their outstanding leadership of the centre which has provided an incredible
service for single parents over the past 25 years,
? said Deputy Broughan.
“A range of
people who have availed (and are still availing) of Doras Bui services over the
years were present for the anniversary celebration and spoke of the wonderful
support they had received in terms of achieving educational and career success
and the outstanding child care support services.
?
As reported in
Northside People recently, more than 100 ARAMARK employees donated their time,
energy and expertise to refurbish the entire centre and landscape its
grounds.
Joan
O’Shaughnessy, vice chairperson and special advisor of ARAMARK Ireland, said
they have seen first hand the positive effect that the Doras Buà centre has on
the local community.
