THE owner of three-legged dog taken in a cruel theft last week was relieved when her beloved pet was found safe and well in Dunboyne last Saturday thanks to the Dublin People’s Facebook page.
Merja
Sumiloff’s distinctive rescue whippet, Liberty Bell (Libby), was taken from her
car last Thursday evening (September 1) between 8.30pm and 8.50pm at Ballawley
Lodge, in the Sandyford/Dundrum area.
“My
car was broken into but all they took was my beloved one-year-old Libby, her
tan brown leather collar and a black lead rope,
? Merja recalled.
“It’s
thought that she was snatched for breeding purposes, but as Libby is neutered,
she is not able to reproduce puppies.
“She
is easy to recognise, as she is black, with a small white mark on her chest,
but most importantly she is missing her right front leg.
?
Libby
had originally been surrendered to a pound in Co Clare where she was rescued by
the Armargos Animal Sanctuary.
“She
finally arrived to me a few months later to fulfill my life long dream to have
a dog,
? Merja added.
“She is one of my seven animal family members, the others
are five horses, including three that were rescued and a rescued cat.
?
Merja
had feared that Libby would be abandoned as soon as the thieves realized she is
incapable of breeding. However, Libby was found safe and sound in Dunboyne by a reader who saw her appeal on the Dublin People Facebook page.
