Fine Gael Minister Emer Higgins has welcomed the allocation of more than €53,000 in government funding for Beacon of Light services in Dublin Mid West as part of a major national investment in community-based counselling and mental health supports.
The funding includes €26,257 for Beacon of Light Counselling Centre and €27,000 for the Beacon of Light ‘Breakthrough’ Sports Programme, bringing the total allocation to €53,257 for local services.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister Higgins said:
“I am delighted to see this significant investment in Beacon of Light and the vital work it does to support people across Dublin Mid West. Access to counselling and early intervention mental health supports can make a real difference in people’s lives, helping individuals and families get support when they need it most.”
“This funding will strengthen both counselling services and innovative community programmes such as Breakthrough, which promotes wellbeing, connection and positive mental health through sport and community engagement.”
Minister Higgins said the funding forms part of the Government’s continued commitment to expanding accessible, community-based mental health services and ensuring that people can access support in their own communities.
