Dublin charity shops appeal for preloved toys

Enable Ireland shop in Phibsborough

Enable Ireland Charity Shops across Dublin are calling on local families to think ahead this festive season by donating preloved toys before Christmas.

Parents, grandparents, and guardians are encouraged to take stock of toys their children no longer play with, or perhaps never did, and, if they’re in good condition, donate them to Enable Ireland Charity Shops in Dublin.

In the capital, Enable Ireland has charity shops in Camden Street, Capel Street, Dun Laoghaire, Phibsborough and Thomas Street.

The charity shops will then do their best to sell donations and find each forgotten toy a new home in time for Christmas.

100% of profits from each toy sold will raise vital funds to support Enable Ireland’s disability services across Ireland.

The appeal comes as the shops typically receive a surge of toy donations after Christmas, when families clear out old toys to make room for new ones.

However, in the weeks before Christmas, many families on tighter budgets visit the shop looking for affordable gifts.

By donating toys early, families can make a real difference—helping others, reducing waste, and giving toys a second life.

Oonagh O’Connor, Head of Commercial at Enable Ireland, said:

“Our shops are on a mission to extend the joy of forgotten toys by finding them a new home in time for Christmas.

“Sorting through your children’s toys before Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to teach them about sustainability, reducing waste, and helping others.

“The toys they donate could bring joy to another child’s Christmas—and every sale helps fund Enable Ireland’s vital services.”

All profits from Enable Ireland Charity Shops go directly towards Enable Ireland’s disability services, supporting over 13,000 children and adults nationwide.

Items that cannot be sold are responsibly recycled or repurposed through Enable Ireland’s recycling partners, ensuring minimal waste.
