Dublin City Council is actively responding to an Orange Weather Warning for heavy rainfall currently in effect for Dublin.
“While forecasted rainfall rates of 2.5–3 mm/hr are within our operational experience, the prolonged duration of this event poses a cumulative challenge requiring close monitoring,” the council said.
Current Actions
- All Dublin City Council flood response teams have been deployed since 4:00 AM today (14/11/25) and will maintain an on-site presence throughout the weekend.
- Our Operations Team is monitoring river levels and rainfall gauges in real time, both on-site and via telemetry platforms.
- Higher rainfall in the Dublin Mountains is expected to impact rivers to the south of the city. We are actively tracking flows on the Dodder, Camac, and Poddle rivers.
- The River Dodder requires particular vigilance this weekend. Flood defence gates are in place from Beatty’s Avenue to Bath Avenue until Saturday afternoon, subject to review.
- In coordination with ESB and Uisce Éireann, upstream reservoirs are being lowered to reduce flood risk.
- We are in regular contact with the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management and holding Severe Weather Assessment Team meetings throughout the event.

- This is not a coastal flooding event, but out-of-season swimmers should avoid Dublin Bay. Coastal flood defences are not being deployed at present.

- Please take care when parking vehicles:
- Do not cover drainage gullies; allow space for maintenance.
- Remove wheelie bins from roadside.
- Falling leaves are impacting drainage—if space permits, park about 300 mm (1 foot) from the kerb to keep channels clear.
- Should the situation escalate, sandbags and industrial pumps are ready for rapid deployment at strategic locations across the city.
- Dublin City Council Parks will be closed from 12pm Friday 14 November 2025 until 11am Saturday 15 November 2025.This will affect all facilities, events and activities in Parks, scheduled activities should not take place and members of the public are asked to avoid entering parks until the weather warnings have expired.
