Housing minister needs to meet with DCC, Sinn Féin councillor says

Dublin City Council have unanimously supported Sinn Féin’s emergency motion, which demands that the Minister for Housing immediately provide funding to Dublin City Council to build more homes.
Sinn Féin Group Leader on Dublin City Council, Cllr. Daithí Doolan said “Dublin deserves better than this chaotic government; the Minister for Housing James Browne’s announcement to block social housing on three sites totalling 264 homes is a disaster for the city.”
The Sinn Féin councillor said “this government is now actively working against housing in Dublin.”
“There are genuine concerns now that all future sites, totalling five sites are now also under threat.”
Doolan said that Minister Browne needs to have an “urgent” meeting with Dublin City Council members to discuss how to solve the housing crisis in the capital.
“It is unacceptable that the government are now actively preventing housing being built at a time of spiralling homelessness and a deepening housing crisis. It just shows how removed from reality this government has become.
“This motion demands that the government immediately provide funding straight to Dublin City Council, allowing us to deliver housing directly with developers without further delays,” the Ballyfermot-Drimnagh councillor said.
