PedalPower Dublin, a free fun cycling event for all ages and abilities, takes place in the Sundrive Velodrome, Eamonn Ceannt Park, Crumlin from 12 noon to 4.00pm on Sunday May 11.
It is Dublin City Council’s showcase event for Bike Week.
The event will have a range of family-friendly outdoor activities.
It promotes a more sustainable urban mobility culture and illustrates lots of exciting ways to take climate action, with children’s activities, food trucks, bike maintenance workshops, BMX demonstrations, pedal-powered workshops and much more.
PedalPower Dublin will be immediately preceded by the PedalPower Cycle Parade.
The theme of the parade is bees and flowers, so make sure to come along wearing your best colourful costume.
Starting at Eamonn Ceannt Park and for first time you can join the parade at any of the four pick up points, Bangor Circle, Mount Argus Park, Harold’s Cross Park and Parnell Road (Fire station) for final Kiddie Kilometre ending back at Eamonn Ceannt Park.
Speaking at the launch Donna Cooney, Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, said “I am delighted to be able to launch PedalPower Dublin this year.
“I think it is a fantastic chance to show that cycling is for everyone, from the small to the big steps Dubliners can take in our everyday lives to be happier, healthier and kinder to the environment.”
Lucy Hayes, Walking & Cycling Officer with Dublin City Council stated “This is a very exciting year for our event; we aim to celebrate all aspects of cycling culture, in a community setting.
“This year particularly we have tried to promote the benefits of cycling for health, the planet and communities.
“The event is suitable for all ages and abilities, and we encourage everyone to come to Eamonn Ceannt Park on May 11th.”
Carmel O’Callaghan, Active Cities Officer of Dublin City Council, said, “This parade and festival is a wonderful opportunity to get more people more active, more often.
“PedalPower promotes the benefit of making activity such as cycling part of everyday life while also improving our health, our community and the environment.
