A new social event specifically aimed at adults living with disabilities is launching in Glasnevin next week.
If you are living with a disability or health condition, or someone close to you is, then this event, ‘Empowering Connections’, is ideal for you.
Come along to the Talent Garden Inn, Glasnevin, on Wednesday, September 11, 6.30 pm to 9pm, and listen to inspiring speakers and musicians, mingle, chat and make new connections.
The event is the brainchild of Tracey McCann, a disabled Sole Trader trading as Empowering Abilities, and her husband Patrick Hogan.
As well as being the CEO of Empowering Abilities, Tracey is also a three-time bestselling author, international inspirational speaker, Empowerment Coach, Aunua Academy Ambassador, and Ted X Speaker.
Tracey says her passion is to help individuals to feel more connected, gain connection and live the life they truly deserve.
“My husband Patrick and myself have decided to go for something which we both really wanted to do for years,” Tracey tells Northside People.
“That being hosting a social event specifically aimed at adults living with disabilities.
“Years ago, I remember hearing from a lady who had a physical disability.
“She said that there was nothing for the disabled after they reach a certain age, and sadly, that lady passed away a number of years ago.
“So, I want to create something unique and special.
“This will allow for individuals living with disabilities to feel heard.
“I feel this event will hugely benefit a minority within the population, but in my opinion, will be respected and appreciated by the majority.”
Tracey says her own life experience was the motivating factor in creating Empowering Connections.
“As a person with a physical disability myself who, within the earlier years of my life, has felt very disconnected, lost, unheard and as though I was just existing, my aim for the “Empowering Abilities Connections” event is to pull individuals together, offering support, kindness, unique wisdom and the ability to move forward as a collective and then expand,” she said.
“The title of this event speaks for itself, and that is my mission, to empower your abilities with the power of connections.
“This event promises to be an evening of connections, growth, development, as well as an opportunity to meet new people face to face.
“It is a space to have the confidence to be heard.
“Come along and share your wisdom, enthusiasm and passion.
“Let’s build Empowering Connections together.
“There is a small fee (€15pp) and just to let your readers know, only the cost of room rental will ultimately be taken out of ticket sale revenue, with any excess revenue being donated to a charity.
“This is not about making money.
“I want to give individuals an opportunity to share stories and let their confidence shine.
“I do hope that if successful, this event will run ongoing every few weeks.”
Empowering Connections takes place in the Talent Garden Inn, Glasnevin, 6.30pm to 9pm, on September 11.
