McGrath was a TD between 2002 and 2020, opting not to run in the 2020 general election.
McGrath will serve as another progressive candidate on the ballot for Dublin, joining two candidates from Sinn Féin, Labour and People Before Profit on the ballot.
He told The Journal that he was “disappointed” that Ireland had not made any progress on the United Nations convention on the rights of people with disabilities.
He expressed disappointment that Ireland has signed up to a protocol that would allow disabled people to complain to the UN if their rights aren’t being delivered.
