Trips made on Dublin Bus and the Luas have exceeded pre-pandemic levels according to statistics released by the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO’s latest Transport Bulletin shows a 2% rise in trips made on Dublin buses for the week beginning 24 July compared to the same week in 2019.
Outside of Dublin, the figure stands at 10%.
Luas trips have also seen a steady rise, with Luas journeys for the same week up by 25% and 7% in comparison to the same week in 2022 and 2019.
The CSO figures also showed a 13% rise in passenger figures in Dublin Airport compared to July 2022, with 3.4 million people passing through the airport.
The usage of public transport by the Irish public has regularly exceeded pre-pandemic levels since the CSO started tracking the showings on their website, with February of this year marking the first time that Dublin Bus passenger numbers overtook levels seen in 2019.
