Dublin City Council says it calling on members of the public to get involved and make sure their voice and opinion is heard as they work on developing an exciting new Sports Strategy for our capital city.
The public’s view on this strategy is hugely important.
The council have created a survey to allow people share their thoughts and ideas about what should be included as part of this strategy.
The more thoughts and ideas, the better this strategy can serve Dublin and its citizens.
This strategy is being developed with each one of the 600,000 people living in the Dublin City area in mind.
The local authority say they want to ensure they do the best they can for the citizens of Dublin and that they make sport and recreation a key feature of our great city.
The overall aim of the strategy is to increase levels of activity and participation in sport and physical activity.
Dublin City Council recognises that sport and physical activity is about far more than organised team sports.
They want to ensure that people of all ages, from all backgrounds and with all interests are given an equal opportunity to be healthy and physically active.
Donncha Ó Dúlaing from Dublin City Council had the following to say about the public survey: “Over the past 20 years, Dublin City Council has made steady improvement in our provision of opportunities to access sport & physical activity.
“During this time we have invested in facilities, infrastructure, programmes, services and sports events to enhance the daily life of our people.
“We have now come to the point that our objectives, structures, services and partnerships need to be re-assessed and re-designed in order to reflect the best use of resources for an ever changing city and society.
“The opinions of our partners, customers and citizens is essential to allow us to deliver an improved service into the future and the public survey is critical in allowing us to get feedback and input, which can then be reflected on how we deliver these essential services for the health and wellbeing of all.”
The short survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and is available on the Dublin City Council website and at the following link: https://consultation.dublincity.ie/sport-wellbeing/dublin-city-sports-plan-2023-2028
