ONE of Ireland’s greatest contemporary bands, Lankum kicked off their three-night sold-out run in Vicar Street last week with an intense and breathtaking performance on Monday, May 29.
The Dublin quartet are coming off the release of their critically acclaimed album ‘False Lankum’ (2023) which further cemented their place as Ireland’s preeminent folk acts.
The adoration and respect emanating from the crowd was palpable from the outset and not even a whisper could be heard as the somber and haunting tracks ‘Fugue 1’, ‘The Wild Rover’, and ‘Go Dig My Grave’ echoed through the room.
The more raucous ‘Bear Creek’ finished the night with aplomb and the performance showed, even more so than ever, that Lankum are special. Truly, truly special.
