DCC footpath claims payout almost €50 million in the past 5 years

Dublin City Council has paid out over €49,853,433 in claims relating to footpath and roadway trips over the past five years.

The figures were revealed in a reply to a council question tabled by Fianna Fáil Councillor Keith Connolly by the Chief Executive of Dublin City Council.

Commenting, Councillor Connolly said:

“The figures of claim payouts were quite high and it demonstrates a clear need for additional funding to fix our pathways and carriageways throughout the city.

“We have seen significant investment in cycling and pedestrian infrastructure in recent years and we need to see a similar investment in improving our footpaths and carriageways.”
