Dublin City Council has announced a new, free, ticketed, family-friendly event series, ‘Outdoor Cinema Club’, taking place in the city’s Meeting House Square every Sunday in September.
There will be two screenings of children’s films scheduled every Sunday, at 12pm and 3pm, beginning September 4 and concluding on September 25.
The Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, Darcy Lonergan said: “I am delighted to launch Dublin City Council’s ‘Outdoor Cinema Club’ which will provide a weekly programme of family film favourites, promising a fun day out for young families.
“This new event series will bring life back to Meeting House Square following a long spell of inactivity and builds on the growing number of family events in the city.”
The programme for ‘Outdoor Cinema Club’ is especially curated for children between 5-8 years old and 8-11 years old to enjoy.
Films include Sing 2, Encanto, Clifford the Big Red Dog and The Greatest Showman.
It will also feature Irish-language film and 2015’s ‘Best Film’ IFTA winner, Amhrán na Mara (Song of the Sea). There will be food and drinks available from vendors onsite and walkabout fun characters for photo opportunities.
Meeting House Square is an all-weather cultural venue that has previously hosted various events including film screenings, concerts and street entertainment and hosts a food market every Saturday.
Free tickets will be available on a weekly basis via Eventbrite starting from the 16th August. Visit www.bit.ly/MeetingHouseSq for more information.
The programme and more event information will be released over the coming weeks.
