Double U20 European 100/200m champion, Rhasidat Adekele (Tallaght AC) smashed the Irish 400m yesterday record with a 50.70 third place performance while representing Texas University in the final of the Big 12 Championships in Texas.
The breath-taking performance breaks Joanne Cuddihy’s record of 50.73 which had stood since 2007.
Adeleke’s record breaking time was made look all the more impressive in that she had clocked a 51.70 (then PB) just 24 hours previous.
