Last Sunday as the Chief Executives of the four Dublin Local Authorities met in Malahide Castle, the four Mayors of the same Local Authorities met in Dlr’s Fernhill Park and Gardens.
The four Mayors had previously met in Dublin City by invitation of the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Alison Gilliland and met in Skerries by invitation of the Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Seána ó Rodaigh.
The next meeting was arranged by An Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Lettie Mc Carthy who invited her colleagues to accompany her on a mountain trek.
An Cathaoirleach said, “It was an absolute pleasure to showcase such a beautiful part of our County to by colleagues.
“We were also met by Clodagh Duffy from Coillte/Dublin Mountain Partnership in Ticknock who brought us up to speed on their native planting and their longer term plans.
“We walked to Fairy Castle and enjoyed the most breath taking views and came down the other side back to Stepaside Village.
“We covered a lot of ground and also covered a lot of issues which is really important.
“It was difficult to find a few free hours for the four of us but it was well worth the effort.
“I think, having the first citizens of the four Local Authorities stand on top of the mountain with South Dublin, Dublin City, Fingal and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown in sight was very symbolic.
“The four of us have worked very well together during our term of office and I hope we have set a precedent.”
