Lidl Ireland has announced it has partnered with parkrun to become their Official Fresh Food Partner.
A free-of-charge, family friendly, community event, parkrun is held in parks and open spaces around the world every weekend.
The new three-year partnership will see the retailer support parkrun as they continue to encourage the public to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle by offering all of its customers fresh, nutritious produce at affordable prices.
Lidl will says it also provide exclusive coupons and free products to parkrunners and volunteers every week via the Lidl Plus App to reward their efforts and make it easier to make healthy decisions while shopping.
The unique coupon codes will be communicated via the parkrun newsletter on a weekly basis.
Local parkrun events are hosted in over 100 locations around Ireland to encourage people to add physical activity to their weekly routine.
Everyone is welcome so whether you walk, jog, run or volunteer at the events, you can enhance your health and happiness whilst making new friends and feeling part of your local community.
Lidl says it plans to attend every single parkrun location in Ireland over the course of the partnership to distribute fresh fruit, refreshments and their exclusive Lidl x parkrun t-shirts which are sure to be a real collector’s item for parkrunners.
The partnership is part of the retailer’s ‘Lidl Steps to a better tomorrow’ commitment which encompasses all of their CSR initiatives and aims to create a ‘better, more sustainable future for customers, communities and the world.’
Speaking at the launch, Broadcaster, Kathryn Thomas encouraged everyone to get involved in their local parkrun.

“Regular exercise and maintaining healthy, nutritious meals are an important part of my weekly routine so partnering with them is really rewarding for me.
