Lidl Ireland has announced that its brand-new store on Talbot Street is now open from today, Thursday, December 16.

The opening of the new store creates 30 new jobs and provides an investment of €3 million to the local area.

According to the company, the new city centre store is the result of the redevelopment and refurbishment of vacant units in the Irish Life Mall which involved the preservation of the original façade and features of the well-known building.

Commenting on the opening of the Talbot Street branch store manager, Shane Concannon, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming shoppers to our new store from today in the heart of Dublin city centre.

“We have been working hard to get the store up and running and we look forward to our customers seeing the new store, enjoy the new features and experience the great value and fresh produce Lidl is famous for, particularly in the run up to Christmas.”

To mark the opening, Lidl Talbot Street welcomed representatives from the Belvedere Youth Centre and Mustard Seed Soup Run to accept a donation of €500 each to support the ongoing work they do with the youth and homeless in the area.

This latest Dublin store opening brings the number of Lidl stores located in the city centre to nine.

The Talbot Street opening is part of a €20 million investment in the capital which included the opening of two other shops earlier this month in Baldoyle and Lusk.
