The Whitehall community in north Dublin has received a new defibrillator after being funded by local businesses.
Unveiled on Monday, November 29 by local TD Roisin Shortall outside the Viscount Pub on the Swords Road, the lifesaving device will be available to anybody who suffers a cardiac arrest in the area.
Speaking at the launch earlier today, Deputy Shortall said: “This defibrillator is a really important addition to the local area.
“When someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, time is of the essence.
“Having this lifesaving device in our community could be the difference between life and death for a victim of cardiac arrest.
“I would like to commend the five local businesses who came forward to support this vital piece of local infrastructure.
“Having this lifesaving unit in the centre of Whitehall will undoubtedly help save lives.”
Deputy Shortall added: “When someone is suffering a cardiac arrest, it’s really important to know the three key steps; call 112/999, perform CPR and use a defibrillator if there’s one nearby.”
