Dublin City Council has announced a week-long programme of free workshops and talks focusing on careers and employment advice.
The Work Matters programme will run from Monday 6th to Saturday 11th of September and will be facilitated by Dublin City Council Libraries.
The Work Matters programme will consist of a range of free, online events that will offer invaluable career development advice.
These supports are for anyone who wishes to avail of expert career guidance.
No matter what career stage you are at, be that starting out or looking for a change of direction, Work Matters can give you the tools you need to succeed in today’s job market. You can also learn about your further education and training options.
With the imminent release of this year’s Leaving Certificate results, both students and parents may find events in this programme particularly useful.
New beginnings can be daunting, but with the right advice, you can make the most of the new and exciting opportunities entering the world of work can offer.

- 5 Ways Parents of Teens Can Assist Career Planning. Mon 6th of Sept 6.30pm – 7:30pm.
Dearbhla Kelly, The Career Coach will discuss practical ways to help teens plan their career choices. - Explore Your Career Path. Tues 7th of Sept 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
Barry Ryan, Guidance Counsellor with the CDETB adult guidance service will talk about further education and training options such as Apprenticeships, Back to Education Initiative, Community Training Centres, PLC Courses, Traineeships, Youthreach and more. - Spotlight on a Career in Horticulture. Wed 8th of Sept 1.30pm – 2:15pm.
Joe O’Reilly, Horticulturist/Gardiner, Dublin City Council Parks, Biodiversity & Landscape Services will talk about a career in horticulture and answer any questions. - Changing Career in the Current Climate. Thurs 9th of Sept at 6.30pm – 7:30pm
Margaret Corbett, Employment Engagement Coordinator with City of Dublin Education & Training Board (CDETB), will give valuable tips and advice on how to transition successfully into a new career. - Are You Ready for the Job Market? Sat 11th of Sept at 11am – 1pm
Two hour webinar with career coaches offering key advice on preparing and promoting yourself for the job market
