Calling all researchers in Dublin as LauraLynn opens ‘The McKenna Scholarship’

LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, is seeking applications from individuals from across the country who are interested in doing a postgraduate degree in the area of children’s palliative care as The McKenna Scholarship opens for applications.

The scholarship will be proudly funded by the charity.

2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of the opening of LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and the creation of the McKenna Scholarship is in honour of Jane and Brendan McKenna, who founded LauraLynn following the tragic death of their two daughters Laura and Lynn.

The Scholarship is aimed at supporting the expansion of the knowledge base in children’s palliative care and marks a major development in LauraLynn’s research strategy.

The closing date is July 23rd and the charity are encouraging those interested to submit an application.

Commenting on the launch of the McKenna Scholarship, LauraLynn, CEO, Kerry McLaverty, says;

‘’Today marks a huge step forward in LauraLynn’s research strategy and it is a fantastic initiative to be able to announce as we mark our 10th anniversary this year. Research into children’s palliative care is still a relatively new area and we are very proud to be enabling and encouraging the expansion of knowledge in this field.’’

The McKenna Scholarship will provide funding for a student undertaking a postgraduate degree (MD or PhD) in the area of children’s palliative care. Funding will include an annual stipend of €18,500, a contribution to fees of €6,000 per annum, and €2,000 per year to fund research-related expenses.
