DCC reminds public of Capel Street pedestrianisation

Dublin City Council would like to remind the public that from tomorrow, the June 11, Capel St. and Parliament St. will be made traffic-free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6:30pm to 11:30pm for a six-weekend trial basis.

Once the trial is complete Dublin City Council will assess the outcome.

The council says that “this is another project by Dublin City Council’s Office of City Recovery to support business in the city and facilitate outdoor dining.”

This is in addition to the increased pedestrian space already created by build-outs on Capel St. and the closure of Capel St. between Parnell St. and Ryders Row, which will be closed to all vehicular traffic 24/7 from 7am tomorrow, June 11.

This traffic-free trial will also effectively make the following streets traffic-free at these times:

The five disabled bays on Capel Street will be relocated to the following locations:

The two disabled bays on East Essex Street will be relocated onto Fishamble Street.

Parking on Capel Street will be facilitated until 6pm each day of the trial. All vehicles should vacate the street by 6pm.
