Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu yesterday accepted a presentation of the newly published Battle of Moore Street Walking Tour Map & Guide from the Moore Street Preservation Trust.

The presentation was made on behalf of the Trust by two 1916 relatives – Brendan Mulvihill, grandson of Volunteer Michael Mulvihill who was killed in the Moore Street battle and Conleth White, great-grandson of executed leader Major John MacBride.

Cllr Mícheál Mac Donncha, Secretary of the Trust, was also present for the event at the Mansion House.

The presentation took place at a crucial time in the campaign to save the Moore Street Battlefield site and to create there a 1916 cultural quarter.

It coincided with the 105th anniversary of the executions of James Connolly and Seán Mac Diarmada.
