Car hijacking incident in Balbriggan

Gardaí say they are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Balbriggan last Monday, 25th of August.

Gardaí attended the scene following a report of a carjacking at Railway Street, Balbriggan.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said:

“At approximately 2:45pm, a male approached a parked white Honda Fit car and threatened the juvenile male passenger who was waiting for the driver to return.

“The youth was pushed out of the car and the male took control of it and drove off.

“No injuries were reported.

“The vehicle was abandoned in Donore in the vicinity of the townlands of Tubberfinn and Sheephouse.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward, especially those who were in the vicinity of Donore between 3:00pm and 5:30pm on 25th of August.

“Any person who was travelling on the L16012 Donore to Oldbridge Road in County Meath and saw a ‘161 D’ white Honda Fit is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.

“Additionally, road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam or smartphone) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01 666 4500, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
