€217,000 of cannabis seized in South Dublin

On Monday 16th December 2024, as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 5.85 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €117,000 in South Dublin.

This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Terenure Divisional Drugs Unit. During the course of this search approximately €5,400 cash was also recovered.

In a follow up search a further 5 kgs of herbal cannabis (subject to analysis), with an estimated value of €100,000 and a small quantity of cash was detected by Gardaí.

In total, herbal cannabis with an estimated market value of €217,000 has been seized.

A man, aged in his 20’s, was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained at a Garda Station in South Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
