€6.8 million of cannabis seized in Dublin

A man has been arrested after €6.8m of cannabis was seized in the Dublin 3 area on Friday.

The discovery was made during a joint operation between the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue’s Customs Service.

During the course of this operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 343kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €6,860,000.

A man in his late 20s was arrested by Gardaí as part of this investigation and he is currently being detained at a Garda Station in Dublin under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
