ECHOES: Maeve Binchy Literary Festival returns to Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre

ECHOES 2024 will be returning to Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre from October 4th – 6th 2024 with an exciting line-up of events and speakers.

ECHOES 2024 celebrates the best of home-grown and international writing, bringing together some of the finest contemporary creative voices to share their stories.

On Friday, October 4th at 7.30pm Maeve Binchy’s Minding Frankie adapted for stage by Shay Linehan, will be performed by Michael Heavey.

This is a story about unconventional families, relationships which aren’t quite what they seem, and a child at home in a “daisy chain” community.

There will also be a rehearsed reading of Chancery Lane by Maeve Binchy, a new adaptation directed by Conall Morrison.

Wanting to sue rich banker Charles Benson for breach of contract, show-stopping dancer Jilly Twilly enlists a barrister’s help… It’s Binchy at her best!

On Saturday October 5th from 9.30am – 5:30pm there will be an exciting day of conversations, interviews and readings featuring:

Cecelia Ahern, Jan Carson, Colm O’Regan, Liz Nugent, Oliver Callan, Edel Coffey, Anne Griffin, Jamie O’Connell, Zoe Miller, Brian McGilloway, Andrea Mara, Kevin Curran, Melatu Uche Okorie, Olha Khoroshevska, Sam Blake, Billy Keane, Andrea Carter, Caroline Erskine, Katherine McSharry, Niall MacMonagle, John Patrick McHugh, Sarah Binchy and Gordon Snell.

Then on Sunday October 6th at 11am, you won’t want to miss the Marvellously Maeve Guided Walk, led by Tour Guide, Rita Biggs (leaves from Dalkey Castle).

There will also be a performance of Maeve Binchy’s Aches and Pains at 3pm, adapted for stage by Shay Linehan and directed by Margaret Dunne.

Maeve regales us with hilarious details of her hip operation.
